Slip and fall safeguard: General Liability protection for janitorial businesses

While mopping a client's shop floor, a janitorial employee accidentally left a wet spot unmarked. A visitor to the business walked in and unknowingly stepped onto the damp surface loosing their balance.

Jennifer owns a janitorial business that specializes in cleaning services for small businesses. One morning, one of Jennifer's employees arrived at a client's business to perform routine cleaning duties. While mopping the entrance floor, the employee accidentally left a wet spot unmarked. Unfortunately, a visitor to the business unknowingly stepped onto the damp surface and lost their balance, resulting in a painful fall.

The injured individual suffered a sprained wrist and required medical attention and decided to file a liability claim against Jennifer's janitorial business.

Thankfully, Jennifer has a general liability policy, so she immediately called her insurance provider.

Upon receiving the claim, Jennifer's insurance provider promptly initiated an investigation. They gathered all the necessary details, including witness statements, photographs of the scene, and medical records related to the injury.

After a thorough assessment, the insurance claims adjuster determined that Jennifer's business was liable for the accident.

Jennifer's insurance policy covers bodily injury claims, including medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering. With this coverage in place, Jennifer can rest assured that she can fulfill her financial obligations without significant financial strain and continue to provide cleaning services to clients while implementing additional safety measures to prevent similar accidents.
